WENHAM POLICE DEPARTMENT
Radio Assignments
The Wenham Police Department is dispatched by the Hamilton-Wenham Emergency Center who is also responsible for communications between the Hamilton Police, Hamilton & Wenham Fire, and Public Works Departments, the Gordon Conwell and Gordon College Public Safety Departments, and the Lyons Ambulance Service. The Communications Center was formed in 1960 and was well ahead of its time for shared services.
The Wenham Police Department is a BAPERN member agency. Wenham joined the BAPERN system in 1994. BAPERN was originally conceived in the seventies as a system to allow police agencies in the greater Boston area to be able to communicate with each other on multiple frequencies on not just base stations but mobile and portable units as well. BAPERN is one of the best public safety communication systems in the country.
